  • What is Our Objective?

Our aim is to help people find the outdoors gear they need, at a low, reasonable price. In addition, we want to put to use any gear getting dusty in closets and garages... while letting our users get paid for it! Sharing in one anothers outdoor adventures and pursuits is a truly, terrific thing, and we definitely recommend it!

  • Can I use Gear Shed anywhere in the world?

So far we only support usage within the United States. We would love to offer our services elswhere though, so if you live in another country and are interested in our services, definitely let us know... just pop us an email! The more we hear from you guys, the more likely we will spread!

  • Do I need a PayPal account?

All Gear Shed users need to have a connected and verified PayPal account in order to sign up and involve themselves with Gear Shed. Don't have one? Well, why not? The sign up is quick and easy... here is the link: https://www.paypal.com/signup/account Any payments for rented or purchased gear will be made using PayPal, so don't expect (or accept) any offers for payments made outside of our website.

  • Are there any fees for using Gear Shed?

Membership at Gear Shed is free! I mean, why shouldn't it be? The way the Gear Shed Team makes a living though, is by taking 4% of all transactions, for both rented and sold gear. The other wopping 96% we leave for you guys :) If that's not a good deal then we're not sure what is!

  • Once I rent or purchase an item on Gear Shed, how do I go about getting it?

One of our main goals here at Gear Shed is to reduce our environmental impact on the world and to help others in the cause as well. Also, we aim to connect outdoor enthusiasts in communities across the United States so they can share their adventures with one another. For these reasons, we do not offer shipping for any rented or sold gear (besides items found in our online store), and we strongly advise against our members offering gear shipments as well. Instead, plan to meet up with eachother in order to exchange gear in person, while creating a more personal interaction and relationship! Feel safe knowing you are passing on or receiving your gear from a responsible outdoorsman or woman, and share your favorite gear stories with one another :)

  • Is there insurance offered in case of damaged gear?

Simply stated, at Gear Shed we do not offer insurance for your gear. What we do offer is a chance for owners to require a deposit from their renters. The decided upon deposit amount will be given by the owner(s) in the product listing, and when renters decide to rent gear, they are entering into a contract with the owner(s) that states they will only have to pay the deposit if damage has been done to the gear. The amount fo the deposit may not exceed the estimated price of the item being rented.

  • Who determines what is considered "damaged or "broken?"

The first step in regards to damaged gear is for the renter and owner to immediately discuss any damage done to rented gear (in a kind, friendly fashion please). We recommend that any issues such as damaged be discussed in person at the time of the return. Even more responsibly, if you are renting a gear and some mishap occured with the result being damaged gear, let the owner know right away so that he is aware and prepared. If there is still an issue or disagreement that exists over the damaged gear, then a case can be opened. Users (meaning both the renter(s) and the owner(s)) will describe the issue in detail (pictures are always extremely helpful) and our experts at Gear Shed will review the case ASAP. After making a decision, we will follow through with the best action for both the owner and the renter. This may or may not included charging the renter up to the amount of the deposit.

  • What if an item of outdoor gear is stolen (or never returned)?

Well first of all, we do not invite theifs to join the Gear Shed community! If one indeed slips through the radar, we ask that users immediately report their existence and we will take the necessary steps in banishing them once and for all. More seriosuly though, we will quickly contact them, kindly asking for them to return the gear within 48 hours, or otherwise face their account being terminated.

  • What if a rented item is lost (and unable to be returned)?

  • What happens if a renter is falsely accused of damaging gear?
